Indie film to feature Lynda Carter
HUNTINGTON -- The independent motion picture "Tattered Angel," starring Lynda Carter, will be one of the featured films at the upcoming Appalachian Film Festival at the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center.
The festival, now in its fifth year, will be April 17-19.
"Tattered Angel" is a psychological drama that centers around the abduction of a 10-year-old girl. Carter, the Emmy award-winning actress best known for her role on television's Wonder Woman, plays the child's mother.
The film was shot in Northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio by long time Cincinnati residents Will Benson and Duffy Hudson. Hudson wrote the script and Benson directed.
"We were first-time film makers with a small budget, and I knew we would be challenged on all fronts," Benson said, in a news release. "So, we wanted the most experienced actors we could find. We looked in New York, Los Angeles as well as in our own region. I feel we put together a great cast."
After Carter signed on for the film, the rest of the cast quickly followed. Susan Floyd, whose credentials include "Forgiven," an official Sundance selection, roles opposite John Travolta and Al Pacino and in the Nicole Kidman thriller "The Invasion," will play the girl's schoolteacher. Kirk Baltz plays the role of Detective Ben Miller. Baltz had roles in "Reservoir Dogs," "24," "The Shield," and "Forfeit."
Hudson stars as Vince, a man who returns to his small hometown after a mysterious absence. Once there, memories of his sister's abduction and murder intertwine with the disappearance of the 10-year-old girl.
"Tattered Angel" was produced with the cooperation of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
"The NCMEC was so helpful," Hudson said. "They shared valuable information that really helped add a sense of realism to the film."
