Saliva letting it fly at Fluid
HUNTINGTON -- Pay attention to the band behind the curtain.
Those new blue curtains at Club Fluid, the new nightclub at 611 4th Ave., get pulled back Sunday night for a familiar band with a hit-producing sound.
Veteran Memphis-based modern rock act Saliva, which burst onto the scene in 1996, is coming back through Huntington, with fresh sounds off the band's latest charting CD, "Blood Stained Love Story."
Drowning Pool and Deepfield also are on the bill.
Tickets are $18.
The band's fourth CD for Island Records, "Blood Stained Love Story," finds the band returning to work with Bob Marlette, who produced its first two Island albums.
"Love Story," which got as high as No. 19 on the Billboard Top 100 Album charts, has been on the charts for 15 weeks.
"Blood Stained Love Story," which recently had another huge jump in sales after featuring the single, "Ladies & Gentleman" on the PlayStation3 TV spots. The song was also featured on WWE's "Smackdown" and NBC's "The American Gladiator" promo, which put the single back into power rotation in several major markets.
The band's most recent single, "King of the Stereo" is currently No. 19 on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Rick Mark, owner of Fluid, said the nightclub, formerly known as the MonkeyBar, was just in need of a major makeover and interior upgrade.
The bar has been extensively remodeled including the bathrooms, the front bar, the back room that is now a combination concert hall and dance club (on nights there are no bands).
Upstairs, there's an upscale VIP lounge with hardwood accents on the bar, new tiles, couches, tables and a fully stocked bar with lots of champagne for all tastes including high-end bottles.
Mark said the club will keep its focus on lots of live music.
Other upcoming shows include tonight: Kenotia, Ashes of Serenity, and Let The Guilty Hang; Sunday, Saliva with Drowning Pool; Tuesday, Feb. 19, veteran metal band, W.A.S.P.; Feb. 24, Northern Lights (hip hop) benefit; March 2, Ying Yang Twins; March 3, Stereoside; March 9, Trick Daddy with Trina; March 10, Tubring with Karate High School; March 11, Luchagores; March 16, David Allen Coe; March 18, SOIL with Bobaflex; April 13, Jimmie VanZandt; April 20, Ekoostik Hookah.
