Barboursville native appears on CBS soap
Local fans of daytime dramas may have noticed a familiar face on the CBS program "The Bold and the Beautiful."
Heather Nichols, 23, a Barboursville native, appeared in an episode that aired Wednesday. She booked a small, one episode part with lines on the show.
"Those parts are pretty tough to get. I really got a rare opportunity," Nichols said.
Nichols also played a delivery girl in a commercial for the national food chain Jimmy John's Sandwich Shop.
"I heard there is a Jimmy Johns in Huntington now, so I hope they play the commercials back home," she said.
Nichols has been living in L.A. for the past four years working as a professional actress. She played a role as a student in the NBC series "Teachers" which ran for a six-episode stint in 2006.
She also appeared in videos with rock bands Papa Roach and Pennywise. She has regular gigs hosting Mattell events in Los Angeles and New York.
"I get paid to play," Nichols said.
She moved to L.A. after winning awards for acting, dancing and singing at the International Model and Talent Association in New York City. After, winning she received offers for representation, and from those offers, she chose an agent and made a dash for the bright lights of Hollywood.
"I usually am casted for the pretty, popular, mean-girl role. I hope that people don't see that as a reflection of my personality, though. That's not really who I am."
Nichols said she likes to do humor and improv work as well. She was involved with multiple theater groups in the Tri-State, including the Huntington Outdoor Theater.
She gets home to visit family each Christmas.
In the episode of "The Bold and the Beautiful," Nichols played an employee of Bikini Beach, where some of the regular characters are staying.
She makes an appearance in the first few minutes, with regular appearances throughout the rest of the episode.
While she's happy with her past success, Nichols is staying positive and looking forward to future work.
"I try to keep busy. Casting is a long process. It can take months. I am up for some feature films, one right now which may happen would be a very big thing. It's a lead role," Nichols said. "I keep ending up in the final rounds of casting, like the last five, which is an accomplishment itself, so I am confident it will happen."
Nichols said that she would not have had this success without the great support of her mother and father, Jack and Sue Nichols of Barboursville.
