Reader develops recipe to use up produce
WAYNE -- The Herald-Dispatch reader Kay Dick recently developed this recipe after her garden produced a high volume of banana peppers and bell peppers.
Ingredients
1 to 11/2 pounds ground sirloin or chuck, crumbled into medium size bowl
1/2 each banana pepper and bell pepper, chopped fine
1 small onion, chopped fine
Season to taste with black pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder and Liquid Smoke
Directions
Mix together well and form by hand into patties. Place in skillet to fry at medium heat. Pour 1-2 cups tomato juice around the patties. Turn the patties every couple of minutes. Cook/fry until tomato juice is reduced and patties are done. These can be put on buns or eaten plain, like a steak.
