REUNION: St. Joe High School Classes of 1996 through 1998 have a reunion Friday-Saturday, Sept. 19-20, at various Huntington locations. A dinner/dance for adults only begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Guyan Golf and Country Club. The cost is $55. A high school tour begins at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by a family picnic at 1 p.m. at YMCA Kennedy Center. The cost is $10 and $5 for children ages 5 and older. SCHOOL: Back to school? A three-day School of Christian Mission Program was recently conducted at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon featuring studies on "I Believe in Jesus," "Native American Survival" and "Israel/Palestine." Attending from the Western District of United Methodist Women were Linda Hollister, president, Christ/Riverview United Methodist Churches, United Methodist Women, District communication coordinator for Western District and shepherdess of seven United Methodist churches; Sue Nichols, Western District president; Helene Robertson, vice president, Western District.
BLOCK IT: Pike and Church streets in Milton are blocked from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, for the annual block party hosted by Milton Baptist Church/Outreach Committee. The Gracemen, Katie Owens, Eric Ginn and others provide music for the event, conducted in conjunction with the fifth Sunday sing. Booths, health screenings and more are also offered, as back packs filled with school supplies are distributed as a community service project (while supplies last). Cake and ice cream are also served.
REP: Jody Shy is the new customer service representative recently hired to assist customers at First State Bank's Central Avenue location. Keep up the good work, Jody.
BELATED: Eugene Gue celebrated a birthday on Aug. 26. Did I hear that he crossed over the 6-0 mark to maybe 61?

CHUCKLE: The quarterback went down and a penalty flag went flying onto the pile-up. "What does it matter?" demanded a bulky defensive end, rising to his feet and towering above the official. "Late hit," said the ref. "So? I couldn't get here any faster," the football player said.
