Gallery: Do you remember? -- Marshall's 1983 Green-White Game

Dec. 18, 2011 @ 06:10 PM

The 1983 Marshall University Green-White spring game is played April 23, 1983.

From 1966 to 1983, Marshall's football program suffered a dismal streak of losing seasons.

The 1983 record was 4-7, its best since 1976.

In 1984, Marshall won its two final games on the road against Illinois State and East Tennessee State to finish with a 6-5 record for its first winning season in 20 years.

We have a treasure trove of old negatives and photos at The Herald-Dispatch. Some of the images, we know. Others, we have no idea.

We are scanning the negatives and photos and running some of the photos in the newspaper.

Questions? E-mail online editor Andrea Copley-Smith at acopley@herald-dispatch.com or call 304-526-2764. Be sure to include the title of the gallery, details of the photo, your name and phone number.
