Bob the Builder and his team embark in a brand new adventure called “Spud’s Big Mess,” which features all the favorite characters in a fun-packed show set in the heart of Sunflower Valley. You’ll join Bob, Wendy, Scoop, Lofty, Dizzy, Scrambler and the rest of the gang in fantastic songs and an exciting adventure as they have to deal with Spud’s mischievous antics, as well as some monster surprises along the way! From Bob the Builder and Garrison Keillor to music from as far away as West Africa and Dublin, the Paramount Arts Center announces its 2008-2009 series that will keep the Tri-State entertained from October through April.

Welcome to "The Drowsy Chaperone," the new musical comedy that is swooping into town with tons of laughs and the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway. It all begins when a die-hard musical fan plays his favorite cast album, a 1928 smash hit called "The Drowsy Chaperone," and the show magically bursts to life. We are instantly immersed in the glamorous, hilarious tale of a celebrity bride and her uproarious wedding day, complete with thrills and surprises that take both the cast (literally) and the audience (metaphorically) soaring into the rafters. Founded in the mid 1800s, the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, together with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, represented the pillars of Irish classical music life at a time when Dublin, after London, was considered the most vibrant and distinctive city in the British Isles. In 1997, the orchestra was reconstituted under the direction of Irish music director Derek Gleeson, drawing its members from throughout Europe. In addition to presenting standard classical music repertoire, the orchestra has also premiered the works of contemporary composers. This will mark the first U.S. tour for the group. Engelbert Humperdinck, a handsome singer extraordinaire with the ultra-smooth three and one half octave range and natural charisma, has withstood the test of time with his sensitive interpretation of lyrics. Once called “the premier voice of the 20th century” by the London Times, the multiple Grammy nominee has sold over 150 million records worldwide, including 64 gold and 24 platinum albums. It was 40 years ago that he first hit the charts with his smash hit “Release Me (And Let Me Love Again).” The song went to # 1 in eleven countries. The next decade brought such hits as “After the Lovin’,” “Winter World Of Love,” “Am I That Easy To Forget,” “The Last Waltz,” “There Goes My Everything,” “Les Bicyclettes De Belsize,” “This Moment In Time,” “‘Til You And Your Lover Are Lovers Again” and “A Man Without Love.” He has now recorded almost 80 albums including many multi-language versions. This is the 30th Anniversary Tour of the 1978 Tony Award-winning Best Musical "Ain't Misbehavin'" starring 2003 American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis, 2003 American Idol contestant and star of "Rent" on Broadway. The outrageously prodigious comic and musical soul of 1930s Harlem is showcased in this rollicking, swinging, finger-snapping revue that is still considered one of Broadway’s most well-crafted shows of all time – sometimes sassy, sometimes sultry, with moments of heartwarming beauty. The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra presents its own masked ball with two adaptations of Gaston Laroux's gothic novel "The Phantom of the Opera." On the program's first half are highlights from the well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber musical featuring the instant classics "Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Think of Me" and others. On the second half, conductor James Cassidy and the orchestra accompany the entire 1925 silent film starring Lon Chaney with a fabulous film score by Gabrielle Thibaudeau, Webber's popular 1986 musical was taken scene by scene from this original film. TIME: 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. TICKETS: $20-$27.50.

Song West Africa is an accomplished group of traditional musicians and dancers in a high-level orchestra composed of percussionists, musicians and dancers from Mali. They give a performance inspired by traditional music with their own identity and personality to create an authentic and exhilarating musical experience. The ensemble has offered astounding performances to its audience using various percussion instruments, from the djembé to doundouns and other balaphons. Excellent dancers, whose muscles seem to be capable of any movement at any speed, create a very elaborate visual ensemble with colorful, inventive costumes. Between tradition and modernity, the troupe works along a straight line of West African ballets, djembés, dunums, balaphons, traditional songs and dances. Its repertory is rich and varied and the traditional rhythms, songs and dances are always represented in the troupe's various creations. This extraordinary group, directed by Bamba Dembele, is a modern ballet from another world, astounding the audience with graceful movements and virtuosity. TIME: 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.
