John Buckland, dressed as Batman, shows off a cat he rescued from a burning home recently to members of the Milton Fire Department during the second annual West Virginia Pumpkin Festival Harvest of Champions Parade on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Milton, W.Va. Batman and Captain America, played by Buckland and Troy Marcum as part of their "Heroes 4 Higher" business, were entertaining children in their costumes during an event at American Legion Post 139 on Main Street on September 8 when they noticed thick, dark smoke billowing from a house behind the American Legion building. Buckland, a former firefighter, entered the burning home, grabbed the cat and gave it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the home's front lawn.
