HUNTINGTON -- Greater Huntington Wall of Fame inductees for this year are Henriella Perry, Paul Whear, Clint McElroy and Hawkshaw Hawkins, according to the City of Huntington Foundation.

Hawkshaw Hawkins is a Huntington native and Grand Ole Opry star who was killed in a 1963 plane crash with Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas. He will be inducted into the 2009 class of the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.

Grand Ole Opry star and Huntington native Hawkshaw Hawkins was killed on March 5, 1963, in the plane crash that claimed the lives of Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas. At the time of the crash, Hawkins was in the midst of his biggest success. His single at the time, "Lonesome 7-7203," written by Ernest Tubb's son Justin, was on its way to No. 1 where it stayed for four weeks after his death.
