1029 superstorm 12

The Schoharie Reservoir is held back by the Gilboa Dam on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in Gilboa, N.Y. The reservoir is a source of New York City's drinking water and possible overflow from the approaching Hurricane Sandy is a concern for local residents. Hurricane Sandy continued on its path Monday, as the storm forced the shutdown of mass transit, schools and financial markets, sending coastal residents fleeing, and threatening a dangerous mix of high winds and soaking rain.
