The Herald-Dispatch asked parents, relatives, teachers and friends to submit the names of graduating Tri-State students who have demonstrated excellence. A team of editors and reporters had to narrow the choices from dozens of nominations.

From community service to sports, drama and scholarships, these students represent a cross-section of the excellence of the class of 2011. The students who appear here (in alphabetical order, with numbers for identification purpose only) have demonstrated the ability to juggle dozens of activities while keeping their grades up; developed talents in several spheres; given to our community and other communities; and have overcome challenges to beat the odds.

For these reasons and more, these 33 young men and women have been named the 2011 Star Students.

These faces are a representation of the hundreds of students graduating and moving on to bright futures. The Herald-Dispatch congratulates them all.
