Haven Lochow, age 9Êof Huntington, competed this past weekend in the 2009 Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa as a member of the Skipsations Jump Rope TeamÊbased out ofÊChapel Hill, NC.Ê She won the Gold medal in the Power Competition by completingÊ148 double jumps in 60 seconds.Ê This set a new Junior Olympic record besting the previous record of 142 set in 2002.Ê She also won a Bronze Medal in the Speed CompetitionÊby completingÊ276 single jumps in 60 seconds.

The West Virginia Thunder 10U Girls Basketball team, in its second year and coached by Shannon Lewis, placed first on June 8 at the WV State Championship in Charleston, WV.
