The St. Francis of Assisi 3rd/4th grade basketball team #2 completed the season with a perfect 14-0 record and won the Kanawha Valley Catholic Recreation Association Basketball League's season-ending Tournament. The team was also the recipient of the League's Annual Bobby Wesley "Team Sportsmanship Award," given to one team from all of the league's divisions. Members of the team are Braxton Castro, Brandon Combs, Katie Lucas, Jacob Lucas, Kyle Machel, Dominic Martin, Michael Martin, Sam Petrunyak, Christopher Randolph and Kolbe Rogers. Coaches are Dave Machel and John Rogers.

Mason Thomas Cox, a third-grader at Fairland West Elementary School, competed in the USA Grandnational Championship Tractor Pulls in Columbus, Ohio, on Jan. 1. Mason pulled 550 pounds for 29 feet 11 and 1/2 inches (of a 30-foot full pull) to win 5th place.

Tumble World All-Star Cheerleaders competed March 7-8 at the Arnold Classic cheerleading competition in Columbus, Ohio. Caiden Conley, co-MVP of the Wendy's 37th annual 4th-grade Biddy Buddy Basketball Tournament. Caiden is a member of the Vinson 9-Year-Old All-Star team that won the 4th-grade division of the tournament on March 8. Caiden was also named to the All-Tournament Team, along with his teammates Kurtlen Brown and Brady Booth. Caiden and Kurtlen were selected to share the title of MVP.
