Health care pilot project coming to northern W.Va.
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A pilot program designed to help people who don't have health insurance is coming to Marion County.
An announcement with all the details is set for Thursday at The Manchin Clinic offices, located behind the Middletown Mall in Fairmont.
Scheduled to attend are Sonia Chambers, chairwoman of the West Virginia Health Care Authority, and Dr. John Manchin.
Affordable primary and urgent care can help West Virginians avoid more expensive treatment, including hospitalization.
In 2006, the Legislature passed a measure creating pilot programs for prepaid preventive care and no-frills coverage plans. This is the first one available in north-central West Virginia.
