Octoberfest at Gallaher Village set
HUNTINGTON — The Forest Hills Neighborhood Association and Walnut Hills Action Team have teamed up to host an Octoberfest from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Gallaher Village Square.
Gallaher Village Square is a new community park the neighborhood groups have built this year. It is located on the old Gallaher Elementary School site in front of the Cabell County 911 Center on Norway Avenue.
Entertainment will include a street art festival for adults and children and free chair massages by Invidia Salon and Spa, which is located next to Gallaher Village Square on Norway Avenue. The Huntington Fire Department also will have a fire engine on the Cabell County 911 Center parking lot for children.
Food vendors will include FireSide Grille, a fine-dining establishment in Teays Valley, and The Wild Ramp, a year-round, community-supported market at Heritage Station in downtown Huntington which provides an outlet for local food producers. A portion of the food sales will go to the family of a Cabell County 911 operator whose child is suffering from a serious illness.
Area residents are encouraged to walk to Octoberfest, but parking will be available at the following locations: the old Berryhill House parking lot on Norway Avenue; Walnut Hills Church of the Nazarene on Norway Avenue; behind Dr. George Beldon’s office on Norway Avenue; Beverly Hills Carpet Center on Washington Boulevard; Beverly Hills United Methodist Church on Washington Boulevard; and Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church at the corner of Norway Avenue and Green Oak Drive. Guests are asked to refrain from parking on Gallaher Street.
