2 sought in Martinsburg fires are cleared
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — Two men sought by Martinsburg police as persons of interest in a string of suspicious fires have been cleared.
Martinsburg police Detective Cpl. S.F. Doyle said Thursday both men provided statements that were corroborated.
An investigation of the fires continues. Eight suspicious fires involving a mixture of businesses and homes have occurred since the beginning of the year.
All the fires haven’t been linked. But fire officials say the same method was used to set at least three fires, stuffing flammable materials through mail slots.
The latest fire occurred Wednesday at a business.
