Tolsia girls done in state tournament
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Makenzie White scored 19 points and Scott withstood a furious comeback from Tolsia for a 49-45 win in the girls Class AA semifinals Friday.
Second-seeded Scott (22-4) advanced to Saturday’s championship game for the first time in school history.
The Skyhawks never trailed, jumping ahead 14-2 after the first quarter and leading by 16 midway through the second.
Tolsia outscored Scott 17-5 in the third quarter and pulled within 44-43 on two Katie Lahoda free throws with 3:32 left in the game. But the Rebels were outscored 5-2 the rest of the way.
Third-seeded Tolsia (20-7) was trying to get to the title game for the first time since 1999.
Kara Pollinger led the Rebels with 12 points and six steals.
Brittani Adkins had 14 rebounds for Scott.
