House fire cause under investigation

Dec. 02, 2012 @ 11:26 AM

HUNTINGTON -- A fire broke out around 7 p.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of Norwood Road in Huntington. The entire house sustained smoke and water damage, but most of the fire damage was contained to the basement, said Capt. David Hagerman of the Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

A Chihuahua named Meme is credited for alerting resident Joe Estep to the fire. He and the dog escaped unharmed. Homeowner Joette Estep was not home at the time.

Traffic was blocked for nearly an hour as firefighters responded to the scene. The cause is under investigation.
