W.Va. officials celebrate state’s top exporters

Jun. 25, 2014 @ 08:11 AM

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia officials are celebrating the state’s top exporters.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin joined other state officials Tuesday to present the Governor’s Commendation for International Market Entry to representatives of 37 West Virginia business exporters.

This year, more than 100 awards were given to 37 small and medium-sized West Virginia companies recognizing export sales to 72 different countries.

West Virginia’s exports range rope sandals and computer software to truck pars and fabricated steel products.

While many companies continue to export to China and Canada, West Virginia officials say many of this year’s honorees exported to emerging markets in Africa and the Middle East.
