Ona meat company issues recall
ONA — Andy’s Custom Meats has issued a recall for certain products because they were mislabeled and produced outside of inspection without a validated Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points plan for smoked meat, according to a press release.
The products involved are smoked ham and smoked pork bacon produced from March to June this year and commercially labeled without inspection. The company has determined that four animals were used in the production of the meats, which totaled about 300 pounds.
In the release, owner Andy Nelson said that none of the product was bad but simply mislabeled and should be returned to Andy’s Custom Meats in Ona, 2040 Prichard Road, or to Milton Farms. The company initiated the recall after finding misbranded products at a retail facility.
Anyone with questions should call Andy’s Custom Meats at 304-743-9455 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
