ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) — The Randolph County Development Authority has hired a contractor for a rail-trail project that will link the Elkins Depot to the Parsons Depot.

Burgess and Niple of Parkersburg will oversee the Elkins Rail-Trail Connector project.

The Inter-Mountain reports that the connector is expected to increase tourism in the area and provide an accessible trail for the public.

Construction could begin in spring 2014.
