Hinton's Brick Row apartments demolished
HINTON, W.Va. (AP) — A Hinton landmark that was destroyed by a fire is being demolished.
Media outlets report that crews on Monday removed rubble from the site where a block of apartment buildings known as Brick Row used to stand. One building that remains is scheduled to be demolished later this week.
Hinton resident Art Drysdale tells WVVA-TV (http://bit.ly/138kDsL) that he'd like to see the community come together and do something with the site.
Resident Brian Lilly tells WOAY-TV that park or playground would be good uses for the now-vacant property.
Police had charged Billy Joe Gill of Hinton with setting the fire but the charge was later dropped. Gill pleaded guilty to setting a separate fire at a house and is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 9.
