Billie Jo Barbour, 64, of Willow Wood, Ohio; died Friday July 26, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center Huntington, W.Va. Billie was a member of Christ Community Church and a member of Waterloo Teresa Chapter #447 O.E.S. She was a retired nurse. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday July 29, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home by Dr. Kermit Taylor. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery Willow Wood, Ohio. Charles Chester Conley, 75 of Flatwoods, Ky. died July 26, 2013 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He had been employed as a bus driver by the City of Ashland. Visitation will be from 11 a.m to noon on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, W.Va.; Funeral services will begin at noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup Co., Ky.
Mrs. Martha E. Hurley 83, of Lake, W.Va was born October 22, 1929 at Lake a daughter of the late Otto and Julia Bias Craddock. She died on Friday, July 26, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Hurley was a homemaker and a member of the Lake Holiness Church for over 40 years were she was a teacher and treasurer. Eula Dayonez (Lilly) Keister, 91, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 26, 2013 at home. She retired with 30 years service as a teacher from Mason County Schools. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, at Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove, with Pastor Steven Sanderson and Rev. Jim Hinzman officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. till noon at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. James Woodrow "Woody" Rutherford, 97 of Barboursville, W.Va, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Wyngate Assisted Living Center, Barboursville, W.Va. He was a retired Marshall University Physical Science Professor and a U.S. Army WWII Veteran. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley, W.Va. at 2:30 p.m. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. William Edward "Bill" Saunders, 85, of Huntington, died Thursday, Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Huntington Health and Rehab. Mr. Saunders and his two brothers were the founders of the Huntington Hose and Hydraulic Company since 1957. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Huntington Lodge 53 AF & AM; Huntington Chapter #6 RAM Royal Arch Masons; Huntington Commandery #9 Knights Templar; American Legion Post 16 and the Huntington Lodge 313 B.P.O.E. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, by the Rev. Mark Conner at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Wykle Stephens Whitley VanPelt, 88, of Crown City, Ohio passed away Friday July 26, 2013 at home. She graduated from Chesapeake High School and attended Marshall College. After her children were older, she returned to school and graduated from Marshall University at the age of 46. She taught first grade at Burlington Elementary in Lawrence County for 11 years and also taught first grade at Salem Center Elementary in Meigs County for 17 years. In 1973 she was nominated for Elementary School teacher of the year. She retired in 1988 having taught for 28 years. She was a life member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and she attended Grace United Church in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was a member of the following organizations: Alpha Omicron Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Wilkesville Chapter #207 Order of the Eastern Star in which she was past Matron Grand Representative of Nova Scotia 1981-1982, and District 24 Deputy Grand Matron in 1995. She was an Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, member of Gallipolis Emblem Club #199, and the Gallia County Senior Resource Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday July 30, 2013 at Hall Funeral Home by Pastor Jeff Black. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery Proctorville, Ohio.
