April date set in W.Va. man’s murder trial
SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) — An April 16 trial date has been set in Nicholas County for a man accused of fatally shooting four people.
Media outlets report 27-year-old James Roy Belknap of Leivasy pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder during a pretrial hearing Tuesday in Nicholas County Circuit Court.
Belknap is charged in the May 19, 2012, shooting deaths of Stephen Leroy Hendrix, Amber Martin and Hendrix’s two young children. A criminal complaint says the shootings occurred over a drug debt.
Belknap was arrested May 28 at a police roadblock.
