Wheeling public meeting on rail plan Tuesday

January 22, 2013 @ 09:37 AM

WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) — Wheeling residents have an opportunity to weigh in on the state’s 20-year rail plan.

The West Virginia Rail Authority will hold a public meeting on the plan Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at West Virginia Independence Hall.

Tuesday’s meeting is one of eight being held statewide to discuss the plan.

The plan will determine the future of the state’s freight and passenger rail system.

Rail authority director Cindy Butler tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that the authority wants the public to be a part of the plan’s development.

A draft plan is expected to be complete in April.
