Former delegate to serve as legislative liaison
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A former West Virginia lawmaker is serving as the state Department of Health and Human Resources’ legislative liaison.
The agency says it has appointed Virginia Mahan to the position. She was a member of the state Houses of Delegates, representing Raleigh and Summers counties, from 1997 to 2012.
In a prepared statement, acting Cabinet Secretary Rocco Fucillo said Mahan’s extensive legislative experience and knowledge will be an asset to the department.
The Charleston Gazette reports that Mahan was chairwoman of Legislative Rule Making Review, the Equal Pay Commission Committee and the Committee on Children’s Issues. She also was a member of the House Judiciary Committee, then the Finance Committee and the House Rules Committee.
