Crash slows traffic on Interstate 64

Mar. 03, 2013 @ 05:12 PM

BARBOURSVILLE — A multi-vehicle accident slowed traffic on Interstate 64 Sunday afternoon near the 18 mile marker in Barboursville.

Four vehicles were involved in an accident in the westbound lane about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

“A small pickup trick hit a little blue Toyota and sent it airborne from the westbound lane over the median barrier,” said Lt. W.W. Adkins of the Barboursville Police Department.

It landed in the median, he said. In the meantime, another vehicle hit the pickup truck and then hit a fourth vehicle, Adkins said. Traffic was narrowed to one lane in both directions of Interstate 64 as emergency crews responded and the vehicles were towed.

No one was hospitalized as a result of the accident.

“EMS came and checked everybody, but nobody was transported. ... Nothing was life-threatening,” Adkins said.

Cabell County EMS and the Barboursville Police and Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department responded.
