Police blotter: Series of vehicle break-ins reported throughout week

Reports from the Huntington Police Department provided the following information:

A string of vehicle break-ins have been reported across Huntington this week.

At least five vehicles were broken into since Monday night in the 1600 block of 6th Avenue. Most had their windows shattered. Thieves stole a Canon digital camera from one vehicle, a wallet and mp3 player from another vehicle, an iPod from another and $5 in change from the fifth vehicle.

Vehicles also were broken into between 1 and 8 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of 22nd Street. An iPhone was stolen.

BREAKING AND ENTERING AN AUTO: A leather jacket was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 2900 block of 3rd Avenue around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

LARCENY FROM A VEHICLE: An estimated $1,900 in items were taken from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of W. 11th Avenue between 8 a.m. Oct. 26 and 8 a.m. Monday. Missing items included a cordless drill, cordless saw, pressure washer, hand tools and radio.

BURGLARY: An unknown male knocked in the door of a residence in the 2700 block of Guyan Avenue about 3 p.m. Tuesday. When the resident arrived home, the suspect ran out the door, knocking the woman out of the way. She said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and green surgical gloves.

BURGLARY: A window was broken and a television stolen from a residence in the 700 block of Everett Street between 4 p.m. Oct. 30 and 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

BURGLARY: An estimated $700 in jewelry was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Kings Highway between 11 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

GRAND LARCENY: An estimated $1,500 in aluminum awnings were stolen from a school in the 2500 block of 1st Avenue between 3 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Booking records from the Western Regional Jail provided the following information:

Carrie Marie Cooper, 22, was incarcerated at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with felony fraud under $1000 and misdemeanor obtaining property by a false pretense and petit larceny. Her bond was set at $22,000.

Clyde Franklin Chafin, 36, was incarcerated at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday. He was wanted on an indictment in Cabell Circuit Court. He was detained without bond.
