Local church hosting forum on human trafficking

HUNTINGTON — Leaders of First Wesleyan Church are hosting a forum about the prevalence of human trafficking in the world. 

The forum is schedule from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in the church’s fellowship hall, 3135 Washington Blvd.

According to statistics, human trafficking is the third-leading money-making crime in the world; there are 27 million slaves in the world today, with more than half being children; and human trafficking isn’t just happening in third-world countries but also in the United States.

The church is partnering with the Salvation Army and World Hope International to provide training to help communities recognize, assess and respond to the local and world crisis.
