Salvation Army asks Marshall, WVU fans to raise funds
HUNTINGTON — Marshall University and West Virginia University fans are being asked to battle it out to raise funds for the Huntington Salvation Army.
The 2008 Red Kettle Campaign begins with a fan-based volunteer day Saturday, Nov. 15, for Marshall and WVU fans. The battle of fans will determine which group can collect the most donations for the day in their respective kettles.
Funds raised will be used to help the more than 700 families and 1,100 children who have signed up for holiday food boxes and toys during this holiday season.
Anyone interested in volunteering to stand at one of the more than 14 Red Kettle locations should call 304-529-2401 or e-mail Captain Bob Mullins at Bob_Mullins@uss.salvationarmy.org.
Funds raised during this holiday season will be used for utilities, rent, food and other assistance to low-income and working families.
