Milton could amend building code penalty
MILTON — An amendment to Milton’s building code is among new business items on this week’s City Council agenda.
City Council will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The building code amendment concerns its $100 to $500 fine for violations. If passed, the amendment eliminates language that assesses the fine “at the discretion of the court.”
Each day a violation continues would constitute a separate offense that “may be subject to the imposition of separate fines” for each continuing day, according to the proposed amendment.
The City Council will consider first reading of the proposed amendment Tuesday.
City Council also continues to research a an administrative fee for traffic school. The school provides drives a method to reduce points from minor driving violations.
Other items up for discussion at Tuesday’s meeting include the city’s upcoming salt purchase, vehicles for auction and two unrelated proclamations.
Council members also will discuss an upcoming seminar and announce flu shots at Cabell Midland High School.
Building permits to be mentioned involve projects along Harrison Street, Pike Street, Lahorn Street, Harbour Way, 2nd Street, Damon Street, Newman’s Branch and U.S. 60.
City Council will be advised that Stonegate Construction of Belpre, Ohio, received a business license.
Council will close its meeting with a closed-door, executive session.
