November is National Adoption Month

CHALRESTON — An Adoption Day Celebration will take place beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Clay Center.

Event participants will have free access to the Discovery Museum, followed by refreshments and a luminary project for children at the Intermezzo cafe’ from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. The celebration will conclude outside with a candlelight ceremony.

November is National Adoption Month, a month set aside for a collective national effort to raise awareness of the more than 120,000 children in foster care who are waiting for a safe and loving family to adopt them. There are roughly 4,000 children in the West Virginia foster care system with about 1,000 who are legally eligible to be adopted.

This event is organized by the West Virginia Recruitment and Retention collaborative. The event is sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and the West Virginia Recruitment and Retention Collaborative.
