Officials to share proposals to update W.Va. taxes
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — State tax officials are prepared to share their proposals on how to update and modernize four areas of West Virginia’s tax system.
Members of the West Virginia Tax Modernization Project will share their ideas and seek public input on them during a three-hour meeting in Charleston on Friday.
While the project’s overall goal is to update West Virginia’s tax system, project members have focused on four areas of the tax code.
The areas are telecommunications, tax credits for senior citizens, personal income taxes for low-income residents and taxes paid on property, interest and other assessments.
The proposed changes are expected to be presented to the Legislature next session.
