W.Va. gears up for holiday celebration
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia’s first couple wants the whole state to come to Charleston for next month’s Joyful Night celebration.
Gov. Joe Manchin and first lady Gayle Manchin are hosting this year’s festivities, which begin with a parade to the state Capitol on Dec. 3.
After the parade, the Manchins will light the ceremonial Christmas tree on the north side of the state Capitol.
Visitors can also walk through the Capitol grounds, the Governor’s Mansion and the state Culture Center.
In addition to the events that Thursday, the Manchins are inviting residents to an open house at the Governor’s Manchin the following Saturday.
