Dry, mild Thanksgiving, cooler and wet Black Friday

November 26, 2009 @ 11:15 AM

HUNTINGTON — Forecasters expect a partly sunny day for local Thanksgiving festivities and gatherings, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s expected high temperature will reach 51 degrees as a cold front pushes through the area.

Despite the cold front, forecasters expect the area to remain dry throughout the day.

Cold weather moves in behind the front tonight and Friday.

The overnight low will near 37 degrees as Black Friday shoppers descend up local retailers early Friday morning. A 40 percent chance of rain is expected overnight.

The 40 percent chance of rain carries into Friday afternoon with winds between 9 and 14 miles per hour. The daytime high warms to 43 degrees.

The precipitation could bring the season’s first snow showers to lowlands of West Virginia and the Mid-Ohio Valley. Several inches of snow could accumulate at the highest elevations.
Friday night calls for mostly cloudy skies with a low temperature dipping to 31.

High pressure brings dry, sunny weather and a warming trend for the weekend. High temperatures rise from 53 degrees Saturday to 59 on Sunday. Overnight lows range from 35 to 41.

Rain showers are likely Monday. The high will reach 51 degrees.
