Toy Train 2009 to buy gifts for needy children
HUNTINGTON — A group of area professionals is hosting a party Saturday, Dec. 5, in downtown Huntington to buy Christmas gifts for underprivileged children.
The party, Toy Train 2009, will be at 8 p.m. at the MCA Building, 836 4th Ave. The minimum admission to the event is an unwrapped present for a child (toddler to age 16) or $25. Entertainment includes a deejay and performance by Nashville recording artist Rick Huckaby. Food and beverages also are provided.
The event now is in its 11th year. Last year, it raised more than $15,000 for about 400 children in the area.
Funds raised at the event go to Central City Elementary School, Cabell-Huntington Coalition for the Homeless, Geneva Kent Elementary School, Golden Girl Group Home, Huntington City Mission/Project Hope, Sarah’s Heart Childcare, Kiwwanis Daycare, Children’s Place, Norma Gray Early Learning Center and Enterprise Child Development Center.
