Puccio exiting as Manchin chief of staff

December 01, 2009 @ 05:41 PM

CHARLESTON — Gov. Joe Manchin’s longtime chief of staff plans to step down from that post next month.

Larry Puccio is leaving one year into the governor’s second term. Puccio has been Manchin’s chief of staff while Manchin has been governor and during the preceding four years when he was secretary of state.

Like Manchin, Puccio hails from Marion County. He says he plans to return to his real estate appraisal business.

Puccio also says he will remain available on an unpaid, volunteer basis while the governor finishes his term and for his future endeavors.

Manchin expects to name a successor in the coming weeks. In a statement, the governor credited Puccio’s knowledge, professionalism and commitment for helping to land the administration’s key achievements.
