Court presents grants to Legal Aid, others
CHARLESTON — West Virginia Chief Justice Brent Benjamin will present $100,000 to provide legal services to low-income residents, according to a press release issued this week.
Benjamin make the presentation during a press conference at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Supreme Court Chamber. The grants will be distributed to Legal Aid and others.
The grants come from the Interest on Lawyer Trust Account Program (IOLTA). The program has generated more than $13 million since it started in July 1990. It is a joint venture of the West Virginia Bar Foundation, the West Virginia Bar, the West Virginia Bankers Association and the Supreme Court of Appeals.
