ASHLAND — Rainy Night in Georgia has a great country ring to it, Soggy Sunday in Ashland - doesn't quite sound that good. With a forecast today of showers, showers and more showers, WTCR-FM, 103.3 has postponed the semi-finals of the Colgate Country Showdown that has 20 of the top young country talent battling for a place in the finals.
WTCR Program director Judy Eaton said this morning that they are canceling the event that was slated to begin at 11 a.m. over at Ashland's Central Park as part of Summer Motion.
Eaton said a date has not yet been set for the semi-finals, but that the finals are set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 at the Lawrence County Fair, which is held in Proctorville, at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Those finals, which feature the Top 10 local performers, begin the first of two big nights of WTCR-sponsored country music at the fair as hit-maker Terri Clark will be headlining a Thursday, July 16 concert at the Fair.
