Report to examine W.Va. transportation projects

July 08, 2009 @ 07:30 AM

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A new report will lay out details on the condition of West Virginia’s roads and bridges, and how they could help or hinder everything from traffic congestion to economic development.

TRIP, a nonprofit, Washington, D.C.-based transportation research group, is unveiling the report Wednesday in Charleston.

It will examine the impact of recent federal funding in West Virginia, as well as cuts that might have to be made if Congress fails to fully fund the Federal Highway Trust Fund.

The report also lists repair and expansion projects that won’t be able to proceed without more money.

The current funding program ends Sept. 30.
