Sep. 22, 2013 @ 04:40 PM

HUNTINGTON —  Cabell County Public Library worker Jesse Riggs’ has started a retro film series, The Orpheum Project, which blows the dust off of classic 16-mm films and runs them once a month at the library.

Head over to the third floor public meeting room at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, as The Orpheum Project will present the cult classic, Victor Fleming’s "The Wizard of Oz.”

Shrouded in urban legend, this 1939 film based on the classic children's series by Frank L. Baum broke ground in cinematography with its use of Technicolor, although not the first film to use the technique. Bring the whole family to watch the Wicked Witch of the West harrow the iconic characters of Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion immortalized in 16mm film.

Cracker Jacks and water will be served at the library, which is located at 455 9th St., Huntington. Go online at www.cabell.lib.wv.us
