Multiple crashes snarl rush hour traffic

Mar. 30, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Two crashes that took place within one hour of each other left traffic snarled on two busy roads during rush hour Friday evening.

The first accident was reported to Cabell County 911 dispatchers at 4:19 p.m. It happened at the intersection of U.S. 60 and Rotary Park Drive. Dispatchers said callers indicated two cars crashed in a T-bone style.

At least one person was transported to the hospital following that crash, and traffic in that area was congested for about an hour.

The second crash was reported at 5:20 p.m. on 5th Street Road at the I-64 eastbound interchange.

Dispatchers said three vehicles were involved, and one person was trapped in a vehicle following the crash. At least two people were transported to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries was unclear.

Both lanes of 5th Street Road were closed for about an hour and a half while emergency responders cleared the scene.
