4 students arrested as Ohio University ups tuition
ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Four students were arrested at an Ohio University meeting as trustees approved a tuition increase.
According to The Columbus Dispatch, one arrested student read a statement saying the increase redistributes wealth from poor students to highly paid administrators and coaches.
Those arrested Friday were charged with disrupting a lawful meeting. They were among more than a dozen who demonstrated against the 1.6 percent increase in undergraduate tuition.
Fees for Ohio undergraduates will rise this fall by $164 a year, to $10,446.
Trustees also voted to increase room rates by 3.5 percent and meal-plan rates by 0.5 percent.
