Huntington church installs new pastor
HUNTINGTON -- St. Paul Lutheran Church in Huntington has installed the Rev. Jennifer Obermueller as its new pastor.
Obermueller, who has 11 years of pastoral experience, previously served congregations in Pennsylvania and Texas. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. She and her husband, Andy, recently relocated to Huntington.
"God is calling the people of St. Paul to celebrate and proclaim God's grace to all," Obermueller said in a press release. "I look forward to serving with this congregation as it lives out this mission."
The Most Rev. Dr. Ralph Dunkin, bishop of the West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, installed Obermueller as pastor during a special service Sunday. Lutheran pastors from across the state and local clergy representing other denominations in Huntington attended.
A committee of St. Paul members conducted a nationwide search over the past 11 months before selecting Obermueller.
"Pastor Jennifer has a tremendous energy and faith, and we know she'll serve our members and our community well," Steve Golder, the chairman of the call committee, said in the release.
St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 721 12th Ave., was founded in 1907.
