Police warn of fundraising scam
HUNTINGTON -- Callers soliciting local residents for donations to buy winter coats in the name of the Huntington K9 Association are part of the latest scam to hit the Tri-State.
The Huntington Police Department said in a press release that neither the department or FOP Goldstart Lodge #65 are involved in any type of telephone or door-to-door solicitations or the group or individuals who are making the calls.
The HPD advises citizens who have doubts about the authenticity of anyone making solicitations refrain from giving money or financial information until they can verify the involvement of the charity being represented.
