July 30, 2010 @ 12:00 AM

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Two legends of golf were on the grounds of The Greenbrier Resort for Thursday's first round of The Greenbrier Classic.

Arnold Palmer, an all-time PGA Tour great, met with fans, signed autographs and supported his grandson, Sam Saunders, who is playing in the tournament.

Palmer also met with noted amateur golfer Bill Campbell of Huntington, who won the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1964; claimed the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship in 1979 and 1980; and captured the West Virginia Amateur Championship a record 15 times

Campbell was also the only man in history to head golf's two governing bodies -- the United States Golf Association and the Royal & Ancient Club of St. Andrews, Scotland.
