First Stage Theatre hosting bowling fundraiser at 3 p.m. today

 HUNTINGTON — First Stage Theatre Company, a local non-profit that provides children opportunities to participate in performing arts, will host a bowl-a-thon from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Strike Zone Bowling Center, 141 Easter Heights Shopping Center, Huntington WV 25705.

All proceeds from the bowl-a-thon will be utilized for the enhancement of the upcoming production of Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr. and to support First Stage Theatre in providing multiple theatrical opportunities for children in the tri-state community. The productions will be held on October 26-28, at the Huntington Renaissance Theatre. It will feature 50 talented young actors from the Tri-State.

Every lane is sponsored by a community partner. Community Trust Bank, Advanced Medical, Inc., Aaron’s Products, and Hoops Family Children’s Hospital are just a few of the wonderful sponsors.

The bowl-a-thon will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. Each bowler must obtain a minimum pledge of $25 to secure his/her spot on a team. Great door prizes from local businesses, such as Tropical Moon, Hometown Sportswear, and Paula Vega Cupcakes will be distributed throughout the event. Trophies will be provided for the highest scores.

Melissa McGuffin, Choreographer says, “The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney princess, so I couldn’t wait to be a part of this show. As choreographer, I get to put movement to music. The cast has done a wonderful job making this happen. I love working with children of all ages and sharing the art of dance with them. From Ariel to the sea creatures, they all inspire me.
