Wednesday fire leads to one arrest
HUNTINGTON — City police have arrested a local man charging him with setting a fire that damaged a vacant house next door to his residence.
The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday at an abandoned, brick structure in the 1300 block of Charleston Avenue. No injuries were reported.
The Huntington Police Department used surveillance video to identify their suspect, Vinson R. Higginbotham. He was charged with felony first-degree arson and released on bond, according to court documents.
Firefighters noticed smoke coming from the second floor upon arrival. They entered the residence to find a smoldering fire inside one of the walls.
