Man gets five years, 10 months prison
HUNTINGTON — A man who confessed to distributing crack cocaine in Huntington will spend nearly six years in federal prison, according to court documents filed this week.
Demetrius Desean Thomas, also known as “Roc,” was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court. Judge Robert C. Chambers ordered Thomas to spend five years and 10 months in federal prison. The punishment also includes three years supervised release.
The 28-year-old from Huntington pleaded guilty in July, according to court documents. He confessed to the April 6, 2005, distribution charge. In return, federal prosecutors dismissed another count alleging the same crime.
A U.S. Attorney’s Office press release states Thomas sold 6.72 grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant at a 10th Avenue residence in Huntington. The price tag was $150.
Thomas was indicted in March 2006. The U.S. Marshal’s Service arrested him on the indictment Jan. 3, 2008.
The case was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
