American Queen steamboat docks in Pt. Pleasant

Jul. 15, 2012 @ 11:35 PM

POINT PLEASANT -- The American Queen visited Point Pleasant on Sunday.

As one of the stops in the steamboat's journey from Louisville to Pittsburgh, the American Queen made port and dock Sunday afternoon at Riverfront Park in Point Pleasant. The 250 passengers toured the city and surrounding areas.

While the people of Point Pleasant had the opportunity to see a steamboat the size of the American Queen up close, the ship's passengers spent time visiting the many historic sites and locations that make Point Pleasant special. Stops for the visiting passengers included the murals at Riverfront Park, Tu-Endie-Wei State Park, the Point Pleasant River Museum and Fort Randolph.

In addition, the Queen will make return visits from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 20; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 24; and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 30.

The American Queen is owned and operated by the Great American Steamboat Company LLC, Inc. For additional information on the American Queen, visit www.greatamericansteamboatcompany.com.
